Paul Jewell has broken his promise to Derby fans by failing to take the club straight back into the Premier League.
Jewell left the club earlier this week after a series of poor results which have left the club lying 18th in the Championship just 5 points above the drop zone.
After dropping from the Premier League last season with a dismal points total of 11, the worst in Premier League history, Jewell boasted, "I have managed in the Championship for four seasons and been promoted twice and finished seventh once, so I am very confident we will get promoted."
Assistant manager Chris Hutchings will take charge of the Derby squad for the next two games.
